I am currently working on getting my band Unstrung Guitar into shape. I want to be tight at practice so we can get at least 40 songs under our belt. I want us to learn songs and play cover songs from the 90's Alternative Rock Era, Classic Rock Era and originals from my own creation. The 3 month goal is to start playing gigs in the Dutchess and Ulster County areas by July 4th 2018.
I am a pisces, I'm 37 years old and have been playing guitar since I was 12. I learned classical music in the beginning but I quickly became intoxicated by Rock and Roll and at that moment I became fully committed to becoming a Rock God-type. I practiced for 5 hours daily for so many years learning the scales and practicing for what felt like decades. Oh wait it was decades. I used my knowledge and resources to by books and learn guitar. I didn't have the money to pursue an education in Music but that hasn't stopped me from educating myself without the help of some fancy college. I have since Mastered the guitar twice with well over 30,000 hours of practice time. I have taught myself to use Ableton Live a popular DAW or Digital Audio Workshop that is very relevant in the technological environment we live in and the way the New Music industry operates today and tomorrow......
I continue to use my skills and learn new features of my software or ideas about songwriting etc. I also continue to write what has become a myriad of songs. We could pick any one of the many song ideas or song skeletons in my repertoire & it's ready to be crafted into a song. We will all add our signature sounds and it will become a new song altogether and it will exude parts of our souls and the feelings of each band member. So remember that If we Practice, Practice, Practice and play gigs for a while then we will present original song after amazing original song with that 90's feel, a 60's-70's twinge, a modern rock energy and maybe a punk/ska ambience to polish it off. The parts are all there so let's assemble them and drive "Straight Outta Poverty". Thank You,
My influences very much coincide with my generation. I am Generation X born in 1981 so when I was a teenager albums like 'In Utero' hit MTV and took over the world. I grew up listening from all types of music from Rap & Hip Hop (Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre) to Nirvana, Temple of the Dog, Pearl Jam, Bush, Days of the New, Sugar Ray, Soundgarden and the list goes on and on. I have always had a strong connection to 60's and 70's music from my late father James who always had Pink Floyd cranked to the max on car rides from A to B. He would listen to the best Classic Rock songs all the time when I was growing up. I remember blasting an 8 track of The Rolling Stones in like 1986 and I played the song Shattered over and over again. The Legend of Wooley Swamp by CDB was a list topper. I also listened to a cassette of Creedence Clearwater Revival's 'I Heard It Through the Grapevine' over and over and drove my Mom crazy!. I love music and always have. ZZ Top, Stevie Ray Vaughan, David Gilmour, Trey Anastasio, Jerry Garcia, Kurt Cobain and more. Then add myself a Lead Guitarist playing for more than 2 decades. I practiced 5 hours a day for 20 years. I am ready to rock the stadiums for the next 50 years. Join me if you want that too!
